Apple is doing what it did in China three or four years ago. They studied the market, learned consumer needs and suddenly went aggressive. From having about 30 people here six months ago, Apple India is now about 150-people strong. The latest IDC report says that sales of Apple devices, especially iPhones, have gone up by 3-4 times in India over past three months. This is because of the open distribution model where Apple has signed up with distributors Remington and Ingram Micro to target Asia-pacific market with strong focus on China and India.

And Apple in India is competing against Samsung and other small players. Apple has a negligible share of the local smartphone market, where Samsung is the clear leader...!
