Anti-Theft Technology Coming in Samsung Galaxy Devices

Security in smartphones has been one of the major concerns till date. The fear and concern keeps on growing with the same especially the same has happened with Samsung Galaxy Devices. The security loopholes have made Samsung to look out for third party security provider and so as per one report, A Canadian company named Absolute Software has been assigned a project to develop a software which will allow tracking of stolen mobile devices in the Galaxy range of products for Samsung Electronics.

As per the Absolute Chief Executive John Livingston, the deal would pave the way for future deals with employers that want to use the software to track and secure mobile devices and laptops.

Absolute anti-theft and data protection technology will be embedded in the core software of Galaxy mobile devices. Users signing up for the services of Absolute software, can easily maintain connection with their device, regardless of user or location. Users can receive alerts, maintain compliance with corporate and government regulations and investigate security incidents as well as recover stolen devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Unvieled

Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy Note 8.0 just ahead of Mobile World Congress, the wireless industry's annual trade show, which starts Monday in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung is launching Galaxy Note 8.0 against the iPad mini, the rival tablet from Apple. The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 comes with a 8 inch screen and a stylus which is yet to be seen with any Apple device. The pen like stylus device from Samsung has posed a major challenge to Apple's dominance in both tablets and high-end smartphones. Apple has never ever developed any stylus like device to be used with its products instead it has always preferred to optimize its interfaces for fingers, mice and touchpads.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is not the only tablet coming from Samsung in the mini range. Infact, Samsung has earlier also launched its smaller 7-inch screen tablets as the very first competitor to Apple iPad. Only thing it had missed was Stylus or say, Pen.

With the launch of Galaxy Note 8.0, Samsung has been able to fill the gap in Samsung's line-up of pen-equipped devices between the Galaxy Note II smartphone, with its 5.5-inch screen, and the Galaxy Note 10.1, a full-size tablet.

Samsung will start selling its new tablet 8.0 in the April to June period. Pricing is yet to be disclosed. More details coming soon..!

Samsung Mega Advertising Campaign Against Apple in India

Just a few days back we had seen how Apple fortunes have begun to change in India with the company achieving over 400% of growth rate in India in last 2-3 months. Apple has been able to boost its sales in India considerably by employing aggressive sales strategies. It is mostly through easy EMI payment options Apple has been able to increase the sale of its products in India in fourfolds. Apple's EMI payment options backed up by an aggressive advertising blitzkrieg has done wonders for the company.

Now, Samsung is seen following similar strategy to counter attack Apple by launching a mega advertisement campaign and reintroducing EMI scheme for its high-end phones. As per a quote Asim Warsi, vice-president at Samsung Mobile -
We sense a strong interest amongst consumers for our high-end devices and based on our learnings from last year, we have re-introduced the EMI scheme for our bouquet of Galaxy devices.
Samsung EMI plan covers popular models such as Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Camera. As per Himanshu Chakrawarti, CEO at Essar Group's The Mobile Store, the country's largest cellphone retailer with 800 stores -
Unlike Apple, the Samsung EMI scheme will cover much wider sales network including the neighborhood mobile phone retail stores, and hence the impact is surely going to be big.
Samsung has planned to extend its marketing campaign for more than a month, to the digital media and inside retail stores. The new campaign has made Galaxy Note II match the EMI payment of iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 is available at a down payment of Rs 16,990 and EMI of Rs 2,376 for 12 months while the Galaxy Note II is sold for 12 EMIs of Rs 2,999. Samsung has started its first ever EMI campaign with the launch of its Galaxy S3 handset last September in 2012.

Well, the fight between Apple and Samsung is getting fiercer day by day where one would still feel that Samsung has an edge over Apple..!

Samsung Galaxy SmartWatch Images Leaked

Its Samsung again and this time we have these leaked images believed to be from the much awaited Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch. Though Galaxy Smartwatch is still a mystery, these images do provide a glimpse of the same.

You can see in the image that Altius name is showing. Actually the center part of the image says Altius, the code on the right-hand top corner says Altios. Altius was earlier believed to be codename for Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch but infact, it is supposed to be the codename for the upcoming Galaxy S4. As with all other Samsung Galaxy devices, Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch is also powered by Android. The user interface looks quite different from what company has been following with its Galaxy series.

Well, we have very little details at this moment. More details on purported Galaxy Watch is likely to be revealed on Mar15, 2013 when Samsung will stage an event to let users know more about its new products..!

Samsung Planning Galaxy S4 mini alongwith Smart Watch

Samsung is planning big this year with some amazing products to come from the South Korean giant. Some of the products to come this year include Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 8 Galaxy S4, etc.. Now the latest buzz is that Samsung may also launch the mini version for the Galaxy S4. Also it is rumored that along with Galaxy S4, Galaxy 4 mini, Samsung could also launch another device that could be a smart watch.

More details can be seen in a report published at a technology blog Sammobile. Below is an excerpt from the same -
The Project J line by Samsung is based on 3 devices where just 2 are confirmed and one still needs to get decided! The other 2 devices by Samsung is the Project J Mini which uses the codename Serrano. The Poject J mini Serrano simple hints to the Galaxy S IV mini. This device uses almost the same accessories as the Galaxy S IV only this device can’t use the wireless charing dock. The third device could be Samsung’s answer on Apple’s rumoured iWatch.
Regarding specifications of Galaxy S4, it is believed to come with a Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T658 (8-Core) GPU for Graphics. It is also believed to have a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED Full HD Resolution Display and the screen resolution will be 441 pixels per inch (ppi) which is higher than iPhone 5′s 326 ppi. And the best of all, we could finally see wireless charging with the Galaxy S4 as reported in Korean newspaper DDaily, Samsung will be selling a wireless charging pad and a dock with the S IV.

Well, just one month to go. Samsung Galaxy S4 will be launched in mid-March and could be available to users in India by April..!

Price cuts for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in India

Good news for Samsung phone buyers in India. Two of the Samsung's most popular smartphones, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are getting price cuts here in India. Now, both the smartphones are available at a price much lower than their official cost.

Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB is now available at Rs 29,480 while at some places, the same is available ar Rs 27,499. The phone was launched officially in May2012 at the price tag of Rs.43,000 and from then till date, it has been one of the top sellers in smartphones. Over 30 million Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphones have been sold till date. The last price cut for Galaxy S3 was made in Dec2012.

One the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now available at Rs 35,600 while it was originally launched at a price tag of Rs 39,900. Some online retailers are retailing the device for Rs 34,900. No doubt, Note 2 is another successful Android device from Samsung. Within two months of its launch, Note 2 sales rose to 5 million mark worldwide...an amazing feat !!

A question comes to the mind - Why price cuts from Samsung all of a sudden?

One of the major reasons for the same is the sudden spurt in the sales of Apple products in India. Apple fetched a sale of over 300% in last 3 months in India which is what could be a matter of concern for Samsung and other mobile vendors in India. Apple is getting aggressive with its extensive advertising and marketing campaign for its iPhone and has started selling its iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 with EMI options thus making it a lot easier for people to buy the same.

Apple is also planning to launch iPhone 5S in the middle of this year....that could really heat up the competition...!!

Leaked Samsung Galaxy S4 Rendering in Sleek New Design

Today morning I came across this picture on one of my friend's facebook profiles. As you see in the image below, its Samsung Galaxy S4. The image was originally twitted by user named tamerallyy. Also, the leaked image was discussed on androidcommunity.com.

Anyways, fake or real...these leaks have added to the suspense of Galaxy S4. What exactly would it be? Would specifications be same as mentioned in the image below or Is it different? The body here appears to be metallic...kind of aluminum built. Is it the real Galaxy S4??

Whatever it is....we will have to wait till April 2013 before any official announcement is made on Samsung Galaxy S4. Till then, we have to content ourselves with these leaks..!!
