Apple's iTunes Store was launched in India very recently. Now, Apple users in India can finally purchase or rent digital content from Apple's iTunes store. The content includes both Indian and International movies or music.
Apple's iTunes store in India can be accessed by clicking on the 'iTunes Store' after starting iTune software or it can be accessed directly on portable iOS device (iPod, iPhone or iPad). The launch of iTunes store also means that now Apple TV will also work in India with proper access to digital content and your own iTunes purchased content.
Regarding pricing of the digital content, songs on iTunes store will cost Rs 12 per track, music videos at Rs 15 each and movies are priced between.`290 to 490 (depending on popularity and resolution). Renting is also allowed where you can rent' movies at Rs 80 (Bollywood) or Rs 120 (international). Movies on rent is valid for 30 days and can be played for 48 hrs. Once the duration is completed, the movie disappears automatically from the hard disk.
If you don't have credit card or you do not want to use the card then you have the option to purchase iTunes Gift Cards in denominations of Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500, Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000. These gift cards are also known as ecards which are delivered free via mail or are also available at a subscription price of Rs 1,200 per year from the iTunes Match service.
Best thing with iTunes store is that you can upload your entire music library online in iCloud thus you are able to have one single, large music library that is accessible from all your devices - be it an Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, iPad or computer.
