One Billion Downloads for Apple's iTune U Courses

Apple has created another history. As per the latest report, Apple has topped 1 billion downloads for its iTunes U courses where 60% of the downloads came from the United States alone and the remaining comes from more than 155 countries, including Brazil, South Korea and China. More than 60 millions downloads have come from the Standford university itself. Apple's iTunes U has more than 250,000 students enrolled in the free educational courses. More than 2,500 courses on a variety of topics have been contributed by over 1,200 universities and college including universities such as Yale, Cambridge, Oxford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The iTunes U was introduced in the year 2007 and Apple had launched iphone and ipad app for the same during last year in January. The app allows teachers to create syllabi, post lecture notes and share videos with their students.

Well, Apple has been contributing a lot to the educational sector especially the growth of online classes. The Khan Academy which is one of the Apple's initiative has served more than 239 million students as per the report published in Washington Academy.

Hope we can see more things coming from Apple in the times to come. Tim Cook, Apple CEO has also made it clear by saying that apple is working as hard as ever and there's lots of exciting stuff coming..!!

Apple App Store - Over 20 Billion Apps Downloaded in 2012

This shouldn't shock any app lover. As per a latest report, more than 40 billion apps were downloaded from Apple App Store till date of which around half of the same was download in the year 2012.  Around 2 billion copies alone were downloaded in Dec 2012. Most of these apps were downloaded for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices. Some apps like the Temple Run game from Imangi Studios was downloaded more than 75 million times. DragonVale and Clash of Clans combined brought $100 million for Apple.

Also, in return Apple paid millions of dollars to the app developers which as per Apple has crossed over 7 billion dollars. 

Currently, Apple has over 500 million active accounts at the App Store, which is stocked with more than 775,000 applications for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices

Apple App Store currently functions in 155 countries. Hopefully....more countries will be added in the near future.
