Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 - The Upcoming Rival to Apple iPad mini

Seems that there's no end to rumor these days. Once again, the news is about Galaxy Note 8.0, Samsung's believed to be the next launch and the major competitor to Apple's iPad mini. As per the technology website SamMobile (sammobile.com), upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will have an 8-inch Super Clear LCD display and S-Pen stylus compatibility. And the biggest thing to happen this time is the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will come preloaded with Google's latest mobile OS. Only Google Nexus 10 has been running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean till date.

Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available in two variants - 16GB and 32GB with a microSD card support up to 32GB. The device will sport a 5MP camera on the rear and a 1.3MP snapper in the front. Also, it is said that Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available in two models, one of which will support both wifi and cellular services. Other connectivity options in the device will be Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The tablet will weigh 330gm and run on a 4,600mAh battery.

Samsung is planning to launch this Galaxy Note 8.0 in February this year. As far as pricing is concerned, it is said to be between $249 and $299. Should be affordable considering its value in Indian Rupees which is just Rs.13,000 to Rs.16,000/- Galaxy Note 8.0 is the second Samsung tablet that measures between 7- and 10-inch, after Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Well, time will tell if Galaxy Note 8.0 can beat Apple's iPad mini. Anyways, I am leaving you with one leaked image of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. The image was tweeted by a user with Twitter handle @ClasificateArg. You can see the front and rear views of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, along with a few hardware specifications.

Simple Buying Tips for Tablets

No doubt, Laptops are getting obsolete these days. Reason - iPad/Tablets. More and more people are opting for these these tiny gadgets. Though iPad is still not in the reach of most of us, is it Tablets which are getting more and more popular. The Tablet industry which was earlier dominated by Apple iPad is now seeing tough competition from Tablets from both local and international vendors. Tablet seems to have flooded market with the increase in demand for the same.

Now, how to choose a good tablet? How would you know which tablet is better for you? When it comes to buying Tablet, I have seen people in a bit of indecision over the same. I know it is not easy but with few basic understandings you can make a wise decision in the end.

The first and foremost thing to know with Tablets is the screen size. Size of the tablet is the most important thing before decision making. Tablets fall into two categories - Bigger sized as seen with iPad and smaller sized as seen with Kindle Fire. Bigger size tablets have screens measuring 10 inches diagonally. The bigger sized tablets are better for surfing websites designed for PCs, and far better when it comes to displaying magazines and documents. Smaller sized tablets on the other hand, measure 7 inches diagonally and are best suited for e-book reading and for kids. Also suited for older people with little computing experience.

If you are interested in buying tablets with bigger screen then you can consider these tablets :

Apple iPad, fourth generation - Price starts at $499
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - Price starts at $499
Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ - Price starts at $269
Microsoft Surface - Price starts at $499
Asus Vivo Tab RT - Price starts at $599 with a dock
Google Nexus 10 -  Price starts at $399

I will be covering more tips on how to choose a better tablet in future posts. Keep coming back for more and more buying tips!
